Dr. Allyson Fried is one of the only podiatrists with an MD degree in the United States. She is board certified in ankle and rear foot surgery and a Fellow, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Fried graduated with honors from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While an undergraduate, she was a researcher in cancer chemotherapy publishing multiple journal articles for the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. A graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, she continued to publish in the podiatric literature. She finished a two year surgical residency at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and affiliated hospitals as well as at the California School of Podiatric Medicine. She became an assistant professor and faculty member at USC & CSPM teaching students and residents in the southern California area.
As a member of the Baja Project for Crippled Children in Mexico, she took part in performing clubfoot repairs as well as extensive reconstructive foot and ankle surgeries. Dr. Fried was featured on the CBS Morning Show for her participation in the Baja Project and Project Angel Flight receiving an honorary Ph.D. and Humanitarian of the Year Award for her work in Mexico. She is an author in a surgical textbook on clubfoot repair and was the Chairman of the Grant and Research Committee for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Personal
- Dr. Fried is a rank amateur long distance runner competing internationally in 10K’s to marathon races.
- Her considerable racing experience led to consulting for Adidas and Nike.
- She is also an accomplished dancer and was an apprentice to the New Jersey Ballet Company.
